BARRA DA TIJUCA

One of the most famous beaches in Rio de Janeiro, known as the emergent neighborhood, Barra da Tijucaé beach is the most extensive in Rio, with an extension of 18 km. Marked by posts, each stretch has its peculiarity: Pepê Beach, where the world hang gliding champion had a natural sandwich kiosk, was named after his death and is a favorite spot of young people and famous people of Rio; But there are still the 3,100, number one of the condominiums of the Orla; The Barramares, also called a condominium, and several other points that congregate mainly residents of the neighborhood and neighboring neighborhoods (Alto da Boa Vista and Tijuca) and the South Zone of Rio.

The strong winds leave normally very clear, green, clean water almost always agitated, creating famous peaks for surfers and related sports. The urbanization - which includes an immense promenade with bicycle lane and many kiosks - goes to the Ayrton Senna Avenue, from then on the area becomes environmental protection, getting even cleaner and more peaceful. It is in this stretch of the Barra da Tijuca Beach that the Marapendi Reserve is worth a trip.

In the right corner of Barra da Tijuca Beach there is a channel of very clear waters and mansions on the hillside, near the Joatinga Bridge. There the sea is soft and perfect for children, but it lies deep quickly. To the right and is bordered by Recreio dos Bandeirantes Beach. As it is very large, even crowded there is always plenty of space in the sand.

The nature is exuberant, with much of the restinga preserved and the view of the Tijuca Massif, one of the accesses to the beach, through Alto da Boa Vista, which cuts part of the Tijuca Forest. The border is very well structured, with excellent restaurants of all cuisines - Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Italian, French, Brazilian, international - pizzerias, wineries, taverns and bars.

On the boardwalk, the kiosks serve seafood-based snacks and quick meals, while on the street vendors sell natural sandwiches, snacks, beers, juices and soft drinks. There are plenty of services and beautiful people, but there is a lack of public transportation. Even parking is not enough for the large number of people who go to Barra da Tijuca Beach.

The neighborhood, in the West Zone of Rio, is one of the most changed in the last 20 years, with large real estate developments and the arrival of the emerging ones, which valued absurdly the square meter. Nowadays, the growth, which despite being planned was fast, has transformed the neighborhood into an immense center of leisure, housing, services and business and gastronomy, with large malls and condominiums of houses and apartments. Barra da Tijuca will be the venue of the Olympic Village for the 2016 games.

The largest beach in the city attracts famous and ordinary people of healed bodies. The sea promotes water sports. National and even international surfing championships occur frequently in their waters, and the good winds propel wind and kite surfers.
